So I've only gone and got myself a blog haven't I?! Anything my brother does I have to have to do too, it's in my genetic programmng. Invaraibly I'll do it worse but no one will mind because I'm smaller and at least I tried - not a bad way to live!
I'm off work today - a day's holiday in the run up to Christmas but I've got a raging cold so I haven't been able to do anything. I'm trying to decide whether it's acceptable office ettiquette to ask HR to switch my holiday to a sick day based on the fact I was too ill to go shopping and spent the day blowing my nose and talking to myself... or is that just bad manners?
Anyway, I'd quite like to turn this blog into a record of my culinary journeys. I'm quite into my food at the moment and am cooking a lot so I'm going to jot down the things a try and the new stuff i discover.
As I was feeling sorry for myself today, I made a big old vegetable bake to warm my cockles. I sliced sweet potatoes, courgettes, carrots, flat mushromms and regular potato and I also had a bunch of asparagus. I layered it all up in a big oven dish, topping with the regular potato and between the layers I poured a srock made from sauted shallots, vegetable boullion, red wine and black pepper. Then I poured some melted butter over the potatoes on the top, put a lid on and baked for 45 minutes. After 45 mins, I took the lid off and grated fresh parmesan over and put it back in the oven for 15 more minutes until it was all bubbly. Mm mmm mmm... extreeeeemely delicious.
