I finally got round to ordering my expensive geeks/completists' copy yesterday, which includes CDs, vinyl, artwork and a free £50 note. It's due for dispatch "on or before 3 December".

You also get a free download, so I've listened to it today. It's pretty excellent. Bold and experimental but also very listenable.

There's no artwork with the download so many people have been designing their own for a competition and uploading to this Flickr gallery. My favourite one, by Simon Conlin, is above.

And here's a good track. Off of it.

Some time a go I entered a competition off the back of a four-pack of beers to win tickets to the Champions League final. And I won!

Not the tickets to the football match, unfortunately, but this crappy green bag, which arrived via courier this morning. It really is a piece of shit. Sorry to be ungrateful but there you have it.

Have you ever seen a caravan with a hundred buzzing flies in it? It's not that pleasant.

If you ever find yourself in this situation, I recommend fly spray and a vacuum cleaner to hoover the dead/alive flies up. Watch the flies drop like... flies. Do not allow your dog to eat the poisoned corpses.

We are guessing there were some unhatched eggs or larvae hiding somewhere in the van. When we arrived on Friday evening, the heat from the heater we switched caused them to materialise from the depths. (Like I say, this is a guess. I really have no idea about the life cycle of house flies. Or indeed caravan flies.) At first we were annoyed because there were a few flies. BUT THINGS RAPIDLY GREW OUT OF CONTROL.

We've spent the last couple of days vacuuming dead flies off the window sills (in common with several of our caravan neighbours, who had similar problems). Also, I had a cold. I watched Goldfinger on the TV yesterday while it rained outside. It really was a fun time!

(By the way, I know I've written about disgusting episodes involving insects before. I am clearly prone to insect attack, for whatever reason. The weird weather could be to blame.)

iPod Gelaskin screen protector

The product on the post below is an iPod Gelaskin. You slap it on your iPod to protect it. It's like a thin, rubbery sticker that stops it getting scratched. The actual skin itself is good. Easy to apply and looks nice. But I'm not too sure about the transparent screen protector that's supplied with it. Really rather hard to apply and although I cleaned the screen first, there seems to be a tiny quantity of dust between the screen and the protector that's impossible to get out and creates these weird blurry patches and tiny little bubbles.

Not to worry, it's not that noticeable and at least it's topping the screen getting scratched, which is the ULTIMATE NIGHTMARE of iPod ownership. (I speak from experience - and if that does happen, I recommend Applesauce, which is great.)
