On this blog, about three weeks ago, I predicted Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and AC Milan would be the four semi-finalists in the Champions League.
Funnily enough, this is exactly what has happened. Now why didn't I put a bet on it?
I'm now going to predict a Liverpool-Milan final. We (Liverpool) can surely thrash the Mourinho Gobshite Allstars (Chelsea) in the semi... again.
Unfortunately I'll be in New York and unable to watch it. Poo.
I've never had this before but I did so last night. It's basically German cough medicine but people drink it for fun.
In the Tea Factory in Liverpool, when we were at the bar, someone ordered a cocktail made up of the following ingredients in equal measure:
- Butterscotch schnapps
- Baileys
- Jagermeiseter
The crazy Scouse bastard who ordered this concoction then ordered another shot of Jagermeister, which he poured directly into the glass. It wasn't listed on the cocktail menu (wonder why?) but we asked, and apparently it's called an Oatmeal Cookie. Emma was thinking of ordering one. But she asked the bar maid if she could try a bit from the dregs of the cocktail shaker and decided not to.
UPDATE: 22 DEC - Apparenty this last bit is wrong. Emma did actually like the stuff but decided not to order it for another, unspecified reason possibly related to the cost.
Antony Gormley's statues, the artwork known as Another Place, now look set to be staying in Crosby. And hooray for that. The Guardian, sounding a little like a "campaigning" local newspaper, is taking most of the credit for Sefton council's u-turn. Pics below.
I read in the Guardian today that Antony Gormley's Another Place sculptures on Crosby beach near Liverpool are going to be shifted elsewhere. Seems like a shame as it's brought lots of visitors to what was previously a barely used stretch of sand. Aparrently the anglers don't like them because they think the iron figures will rip holes in their boats. Bear in mind this is a two mile stretch of beach. Obviously too much to ask that they might go fishing somewhere else. It does sound like a marvellously self-defeating decision by the council in order to placate a small but vocal minority. Anyway, I got some nice pics on my phone when we went there last month. Maybe I'll go and see them again in New York, which is where they're headed next.
